As a beginning scholar, over 30 years ago, he had a dream of advancing the field of occupational therapy in order to assist individuals with chronic health conditions and disability live fulfilling and satisfying lives. His dream became a Dr. Kielhofner, 61, of Lake Geneva, Wis., the former head of the occupational therapy department at UIC, died Thursday, Sept. 2, at Mercy Hospital in Chicago, after a short battle with cancer. Dr. Marcia A. Kielhofner is an infectious disease specialist in Houston, Texas and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Kindred Hospital Houston Medical Center and Memorial G Kielhofner, J P Burke. Detta samarbete är mycket viktigt ur kvalitetshänseende eftersom professor Kielhofner var upphovsman till instrumentens teoretiska grund, det vill säga MOHO. Även om det inte krävs någon obligatorisk kurs för att använda instrumenten är det en stor fördel om användaren är bekant med MOHO för att till fullo kunna dra nytta av instrumenten. Kielhofner definierar aktivitet som utförande av arbete, fritid eller ADL vid ett specifikt tillfälle, i ett specifikt fysiskt och sociokulturellt sammanhang som definierar mänskligt liv (15). arbetsterapeuten i arbetet (Fisher, 2009 & Kielhofner, 2012). MOHO är en teoridriven modell som bygger på att skapa sig en bred bild av klienten och utgår i från värderingar, intressen, upplevelsen av sin egen förmåga, vilka roller och vanor klienten har samt miljöns betydelse i utförandet av aktiviteter. PEO-modellen är en arbetsterapimodell som har ett klientcentrerat synsätt, och de tre komponenterna i modellen är person, omgivning och aktivitet.
